If you look at the June 2006 issue of Backpacker magazine, you can find a picture taken by yours truly. It's on page 61, for hike #3 (Riga Plateau MA/CT). The photo in the magazine is not much bigger than a photo stamp.

I'm back

I wanted to get out and do an easy hike after my little ordeal. So, I drove up to Lake George with Howie and we climbed Shelving Rock mountain. There is an old carriage road that leads to the top. The dirt road was well built and has easy grades as it winds its way up to the summit. At the top, there is a short path that leads down to a rock ledge with a nice view of the lake and surrounding mountains. We had a beautiful, sunny day for our little adventure.

Summit Elevation: Shelving Rock 1130 ft
Round-trip Distance: 3.4 mi
Elevation Change: 500 ft
