It's been cold here ... which I guess is normal for January. But, I wanted to get out and do a hike so that my muscles don't turn to Jello(tm). I decided to do a quick hike with Howie up Overlook mountain in the afternoon... after it warmed up to about 25 degrees (woot!). The trailhead is near Woostock - the mecca of aging hippies and hippy-wannabees. The trail is basically a gravel jeep road, so the walking is easy. There is still very little snow in the Catskills ... only a dusting near the top. We saw quite a few other hikers today.

Loafer
Howie and I started out the new year by hiking Sugarloaf mountain in the Catskills. I parked at the Roaring Kill trail head and we started out. Did a loop up the west side of Sugarloaf (Mink Hollow) and then back down the east side (Pecoy Notch). Conditions were again very Spring-like, with mud and water coursing down the trails.
