Thacker

Went for a walk at Thatcher Park this afternoon (or "thacker park" as my GPS calls it). The Indian Ladder trail was open (early this year), so we walked along that and then the Escarpment trail. Nice sunny but cool day.

Plotterkill

Did a short hike this afternoon with Howie at Plotterkill Preserve. Water was fairly low for this time of year due to lack of snow and rain, but on flip side the trails were drier. Walked about a 5.5 mile loop on this warm and sunny day.

Wicked warm

Went up to Lake George and did a hike with Howie this afternoon. We did a loop over Pilot Knob. It was wicked warm for March (70 degrees), and felt weird to be wearing shorts and a t-shirt. Lots of hikers out judging by the full parking lot and cars along the road - luckily most of them were climbing Buck. There was still some stubborn ice in a few spots, but the woods for the most part were snow and ice free. Howie was going bonkers trying to sniff out chipmunks.

Ridge walk

I did a hike in the southern Taconics with Howie today. Parked at the trailhead on Route 344 and started up the Cedar Brook Trail. Eventually reached the Taconic trail and took that to Sunset Rock. A brief stop and then continued on to Prospect Hill. After a P&B break, we resume our trek all the way to the top of the ski slopes at Catmount ski area. There were skiers out enjoying the spring like conditions. Some were surprised to see a beagle on the slopes. I stayed out of the way and took a brief rest. Then, I retraced my steps, except took Taconic trail all the way back. A perfect blue bird day.

Pine Bush 3

Went for a short walk with Howie at the Albany Pine Bush (Blueberry hill). Started from trailhead on Columbia Circle. Did a loop on the new yellow and red perimeter trails. A cool, but sunny afternoon for our 2 mile walk. Unfortunately, the ticks are back!
