Moreau

I did a hike today at Moreau State Park with Howie. I used snowshoes most of the day. The snow was about a foot deep, but it was mostly already packed down by earlier travelers. There was one section on the return leg (about 3/4 mile long) which was virgin snow. It was tough going breaking trail. Howie actually followed behind me on this part as the snow was nearly as deep as he is high. We covered a lot of ground today ... visited the Moreau overlook plus several view points along the western ridge above the Hudson river. It was nice to get out after all the frigid weather we have been having.

What a pretty hike! 8 miles is a long way in snow, though.
